My first garden

[Flashback to last week I mentioned how I bought a couple of plants], this week I am happy to say I started my very own garden. We went to a nursery to pick out what I wanted to plant. While I was there I learned that potatoes are best planted in the winter here.

A few of the plants we used

Also, I was told about the Native American story the three sisters of gardening and how they planted in an appealing way by planting corn in the middle, string beans around the corn, and zucchini around it all.

Next, I had to get the planting beds ready. A bed for plants is a wooden box filled with soil. Filling the box was hard work because it was a lot of soil that had to be put in the bed.

After that we had to measure how far each plant needed to be, then we planted them by digging up some holes in the soil. Lastly, I put the plants in the holes and watered them.

And that is how I started my first garden.

There are a lot of reasons why you should start a garden, here's my top three:
  1. It's fun
  2. You'll get a new experience
  3. You'll get good fresh food

Do you have a garden? If you do post a pic. If not, have you ever thought of one?

I don't have a garden, but one day I'd love to have one to grow my own produce and herbs. Have you thought about what you want to plant next?

Hi Kia! No I haven't but thank you that was a good question. It's pretty cool to grow your own food.
